Climate in Alvarado

When it comes to weather, Alvarado is just like the rest of the US—in some ways. The average US city gets an average of 38 inches of rain per year, and Alvarado is right on target with an average of 38 inches annually.

But that’s where similarities end. The unpleasant weather in Alvarado may be more extreme than in other places around the country because of its location; it’s closer to New Mexico so the temperatures are quite hot in the summer, but it has colder winters (averages 1 inch of snow per year) than most other places in the United States, due to its higher elevation. And when all four seasons hit at once, Alvarado experiences a “monsoon season” that’s a bit different from what you might find elsewhere; it doesn’t get much precipitation during this time (it only averages about .1 inches), but it does get some pretty strong winds instead.
